Chapter 32
Grace’s POV
I reached for my phone and dialed my mother’s line. I wanted to speak to someone before I lost my mind. She picked up on the second ring and squealed excitedly before I could speak.
“Grace, oh my god! You won’t believe this.”
“Hi, Mom,” I said dispassionately, but my mother was too excited to notice my pensive mood.
“Listen, darling, I’m engaged. Do you hear me? I’m sitting here in my kitchen wearing a big diamond ring. Can you believe it?”
“Oh, Mom!” I said softly and dabbed my eyes dry. This was just the right news I needed to hear to push me to the brink of despair. Knowing my mom was getting married while I was having a baby for my boss was such an irony.
“Aren’t you happy for me?” she asked, finally noticing my tone.
