Nathan’s POV

We’ve been flying back and forth on the grid for 1 ½ hours. We haven’t seen a single clue of where they could be. It’s starting to get dark. I can see the brilliant orange and pink hues of sunset starting to appear across the sky. They are a beautiful warning that we are running out of time for today's search. How can something so spectacular bring me such a feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach?

“Dr. Michaels, we have about 30 minutes before we have to call off the search,” James said.

“Push it as long as you can,” I replied. “I want every single second used.”
