As the afternoon wore on, Kane worked so engrossedly that he lost track of time. When he finally glanced up at the clock, he realized it was nearly time for the evening shift to end.
Sighing, he suddenly felt longing for Lani. He decided to open some films she had acted in and sat there, watching them until he was completely absorbed.
Even as everyone in the office left for home, Kane remained at his desk, hands propped against the table, eyes fixed on the laptop screen. The empty office only accentuated his sense of loneliness.
Kane sighed once again. For an entire month, Kane maintained this monotonous routine. Diligently worked at the company during the day, staying late for overtime, and if the memory of Lani became too overwhelming, he would open Lani’s old films and continue working. Returning home late at night, Kane would sit alone on the sofa, pouring himself a drink to alleviate his loneliness.
