The evening was still, the only noise coming from the occasional gust of wind rustling the leaves outside. Regina and Giannis lay in each other’s arms, their bodies intertwined under the soft covers of their bed.
After Giannis had suggested that they return to their honeymoon destination, he had suddenly fallen asleep. The dim light from the bedside lamp created a warm and comforting glow around them. Giannis’s breathing was slow and steady, a rhythm Regina had grown accustomed to. She felt his heartbeat against her chest, the steady thump a reassuring reminder of his presence. She couldn’t believe how lucky she had been to have Giannis back with her.
Seeing him sleep so soundly beside her was such a relief. She closed her eyes and finally found sleep.
