Emmeline averted her gaze from his molten stare and rushed to change the subject. “The maid mentioned Yuna was almost finished with her shower, so I took the opportunity to come find you instead. But I’m worried she’ll get suspicious if you tell her about our...meeting.”

His lean fingertips grazed the sensitive underside of her chin, tilting her face back towards his. “Tell me you missed me.” He ignored her concern.

Emmeline found herself utterly bewitched by the sinful heat burning in his eyes. “I really missed you.” the words tumbled from her lips in a breathless rush.

Zavian’s free hand lifted the cigarette to his lips, the ember flaring bright as he took a long drag.

Smoke billowed from between his parted lips as he exhaled the acrid cloud across Emmeline’s face.

She blinked at the unexpected action. “You didn’t tell me you smoked!”

Zavian held the cigarette between his lips. “I’ve been smoking since high school.” He replied casually.
