Emmeline let out a small gasp when a drop of water got into her eye. She rubbed at it furiously, her movements exaggerated.

“Let’s play like a civilized couple, Mr. Blackthorn.” She looked at him again. However, her eyes narrowed when she took in the smile spreading across his lips. There was something about the way he looked at her that made her heart skip a beat.

“I’m warning you,” Emmeline said, pointing a finger at him. “Remember how you made me swallow snow on the mountain? Swallowing water in a swimming pool is even worse!”

Zavian’s expression remained unreadable as he began swimming toward her. “Come here, baby. I’ll tell you what I’m going to do.”

Emmeline scooped up more water and threw it at him, trying to stop his approach. “I’m good at diving too, Mr. Aquaman.” Her voice was full of sarcasm. “Do you want me to come down there and fight you underwater?”
