Chapter 11. Perks

“Where the fuck were you?” asks Chandler after getting into our office kitchen.

Just when I thought I was gonna have a quiet tea break before work. He looks more serious than usual.

I put down my hot cup of herbal tea. “Hey to you too,” I respond. “I told you I had a date with Rick.”

“For the whole fucking weekend? I couldn’t even reach you on your phone.”

“Oh, yeah, we went to this secluded luxury cottage at this park far from the city. There was no cell service. It was great.”

“No cell service, and it was great?” says Chandler with a face. “I tried your phone yesterday evening, and I still couldn’t reach you, though.”

“It was so great. We came back this morning straight to the office,” I say with a devious smile. “He bought me new clothes and everything,” I say, pulling at my shirt.
