Chapter 15. Consequences

“I messed up,” I tell Chandler.

I directed the taxi to his apartment. I need a friend right now.

“Why did you tell him?” he asks.

“Because I love him. Because I think he’s the one.”

“He must be,” says Chandler quietly. “I’ve never seen you like this.”

“So, what can I do?”

“You must get him back. If he’s the one, you’ve gotta fight for him. He’ll come around, I’m sure.”

“What if he doesn’t? What if I’ll feel this pain forever?”

“You’re just upset right now. Even if things don’t work out, you’ll eventually be alright.” He pats me on the back. “You’ll just have to do your best to win him back. If it’s meant to be, you’ll get back together.”

He tells me exactly what I need to hear, but I can’t bear the thought of losing Rick. Why do people fall in love? Love is fucking painful.
