Chapter 73. Why Am I Vomiting?
Two weeks later.
It had been two weeks, and in that time, so much had shifted around Lucien’s world.
Zayn had told him about his brother’s return and about Selene waking up. At first, the news filled Lucien with dread. His father was dangerous, and knowing he could easily be in harm’s way made his chest heavy with fear.
When he voiced his worries to Zayn, the older man had brushed his cheek with steady fingers and assured him, “Nothing will happen to your you. As long as I breathe, no one will harm you.”
Lucien had wanted to believe him. His heart still trembled with fear, but the certainty in Zayn’s voice calmed him more than anything else could. Trust had grown between them, a fragile but real thing.
He had been happier since Zayn finally knew he was innocent concerning Selene’s case. Even so, there were corners of his heart left uneasy. Roman had confessed his love before vanishing from his sight; Lucien hadn’t seen him once in the past two weeks.
