Shadow’s POV

The silence after her words was deafening.

For the first time in all her years, the shadow watched the matrons freeze in shock.

No matter what they might have been expecting her to say, it definitely wasn’t that.

Around her, the chamber came alive, thrumming with power as the matron’s grasp of the weave momentarily slipped from their control. The shadow watched the silver strands of the weave dance and coil around the statue of the goddess at the center of the chamber.
