Chapter 26
The next morning, I woke up feeling very scared, asking myself what Duke would say when he woke up. I couldn’t wait for him to wake up before going to work, so I left him in the house. I wasn’t myself at all at work; I kept thinking about what I had done. I was happy I did not do anything to him, but manipulating him to spend the night there was more than crime enough.
Lilian tried to find out if all was alright, but I told her she had no reason to worry about me and that all was alright. Lilian was smart, and she knew that all was not alright, but being the person that she was, she wasn’t interested in asking too many questions.
