Chapter 23. Scared

Very late at night Martins sat with Serena at the living room, he watched as she dug into her plate of scrambled eggs, bread and tea, wondering when his father’s men were going to fake the attack on them.

Serena, who had been eating in silence, looked up curiously at Martin. She hadn’t missed the way he kept glancing at her. If there was something she had noticed the last two days, it was that Martin was very much similar to her brother, they always had things to talk about.

"A…are you okay?" She asked, wondering why he was so quiet today.

"Martins?" She called, reaching for his hand and when her hand touched his cold ones, she quickly realized herself and withdrew sharply.

"Yes, what is it?" He finally looked at her.

"You… you look worried or something. Is anything the matter?" Serena asked shyly, fondling her fingers and suddenly losing her appetite.
