Chapter 16. I Won’t Just Believe That She’s Dead

Lake Chapman was Ezrah’s best friend since childhood. However, unlike Ezrah, he only had a sister who didn’t care about the family business. The dark side of it was the fact that all the pressure remained on Lake, making him too busy to even listen to the news.

If his sister had not called him to gossip about Ezrah’s predicament because she had eyes on Ezrah unknown to Lake, he would not have taken time off his busy schedule. With two busy friends, it was almost impossible to see each other.

Phone calls were even a luxury between the friends. Ezrah had not thought about calling him since the tragedy, not wanting to burden him with his bad luck, but since Lake was in his office, he could download everything to the latter.

Lake was saddened, taking in Ezrah’s tired form and asked seriously, “So what is this I’m hearing about your wife? I mean, I never got to know her but she seemed like a good woman.”
