Chapter 60
Chantal’s POV
Mateo just held my hand while he stroked it. Then he looked at me, and I still didn’t know if I could say it now or even muster the courage to do so.
We were quiet, but he wasn’t angry with me. He didn’t shout at me or force me to speak, even though I knew he was curious.
He was just waiting next to me, hugging me, and of course, he was willing to accept all the resentment he could get from what I said. I looked at him and wondered if I would feel the same way with another man by my side.
If Mateo wasn’t my partner, would everything be miserable, or would I never experience this kind of love? During the time I’d been with Mateo, I’d only felt my heartbeat, loud and clear. I got butterflies when I thought about it. He would be with me for life and even have a child of our own.
I took a deep breath, and Mateo adjusted his seat to face me.
“Are you sure you won’t be angry?” I asked him, worried about broaching the subject.
