Chapter 41. Intense Urge
Brooks opens his mouth to reply but Juliet doesn’t even let him as she shakes her head, uninterested in whatever it is he wants to say, and walks past him to Lucien.
She squats to his level and glowers at him, snapping with raised brows, "Why do you love making trouble every time?"
Lucien grins and shrugs his shoulders. "You wouldn’t blame me, will you? Dude is a liar and faker. I just had to stand up for you lest you accept something not worth accepting."
Juliet’s eyes well up with tears. While her parents and sister were eager to accept the gift, Lucien was the only one who refused it. Though she wouldn’t have accepted the gift anyway, she can’t help but be grateful for the fact he stood up for her and in the context, saved her life.
At this moment, she feels an intense urge to pull him close to her and hug him tightly but remembering all she went through in the past six years, she instantly stiffles the urge.
