Chapter 24
The four walls of the cottage that were so sultry in the wintertime seemed so delicate against the unsettled invasion of Tommy's scream and the wild howl of his agony as Eve began her healing process. Diana had never seen dried leaves lit on fire that were hung all over the corners of the dwellings and did not disappear so fast. In an average fire, they would be most of the way to being burned before the fire dominated the entire cottage. This time, though, the orange flames were as full and flared endlessly from Eve's outreach hands, her fires warming the inside but never burning a single leaf as she was kneeling beside the screaming werewolf, concentrating like her life depended on it. Her hands have been burning, but it was a different blaze. It was warm but didn't hurt any of them.
“It won't hurt him?” Diana asked the old woman.
“No, don't worry. This will heal him.”
Diana reckoned that Eve was an expert, as she never abandoned Tommy, even when he was a feral howling
