Chapter 24. Please Survive

Kate's POV

"The woman who has stolen your heart from…"

"From who, Kate? No one has stolen my heart. It belongs to its rightful owner, no one has stolen it," he gasped. "You know what, I'll give you the chance to love when you get well. You'll find out your heart is not stolen, but rather sacrificed."

He explained, persuading me to accept the surgery calmly without any bad feelings. I began to wonder how my bills would be paid and whose coffers that money was going to come from.

"What will you do if I refuse to survive? Will you go and meet your lover without me?" I groaned, trembling and cramping the bedsheet. "What will you do if I am unlucky?" I burst into tears.

"Well, that's an incredible question. I may not be able to see her. She's just like a bird, she's very beautiful and eloquent, yet I might need you to decipher if she's my real bird or not," he explained in a parable. "I would need someone to hold my umbrella when I am kissing her, and that p
