Chapter 30. I Can't Breathe
Kate's POV
“Please, I can’t breathe. Let me go,” I pleaded, my hands tied behind my back and pressed against a solid, hard, round object.
I couldn’t breathe properly, nor hear anyone speaking. I couldn’t move either, yet I pleaded to be freed. Sitting on the floor, I could feel sand beneath me. My cries and screams echoing back reassured me that I was in an enclosed space, which gave me a faint sense of comfort.
I stayed on the ground, struggling to free my hands from the knot that bound them. It was a strong knot, and my strength couldn’t make a dent in it.
“Kate!!” a woman’s voice echoed in the room. “The devil was right beside me, yet I blamed and killed an innocent angel,” she added, her words followed by the sound of rustling metal.
“Who are you? Please let me go,” I begged, trying to stand but falling onto my side.
“A sick girl… a sick, poor, wretched girl who wants the prince charming for herself!”
