Chapter 24
The sky was dark when Aiden woke up. He held his head, which was throbbing slightly in pain because he had hurriedly gotten up from where he was lying as soon as his eyes opened.
"Stay still, Kid."
His uncle was beside him, looking relieved to see him. Not far from where Uncle Garfield was sitting, Isaac was standing. Their faces looked gloomy, with obvious sadness.
"I always hate it whenever I'm right," Isaac let out a long sigh with their eyes glued to the tablet screen in their hands before walking closer to Garfield. “The results were much worse than I expected. Rachel did perform a purification ritual on Aiden. What I can say—if you look at the results of the examination—was not quite successful."
Aiden didn't understand the meaning of Isaac's words. Meanwhile, Uncle Garfield's face was as white as white A4 paper. Even Uncle Garfield's lips, which usually smile at him, trembled, along with his hands, when Isaac handed him the results of the examination.<
