Gill had heard Anna very well, but she had to ask, “What did you just say?”

Anna knew that what she had said could be a long stretch, but after what Carlos had told her, she just could not help but let her mind wander. “I think that the demon king is in love with me.”

Gill chuckled without humor. “Anna…he’s the devil. He can’t fall in love. He’s pure evil.”

Anna made a small sound under her breath. “Gill…do you know what he told me? He told me that I couldn’t see Carlos anymore, or it would be a breach of contract. And not only that, I can’t also have any romantic relations with anyone until he approves of it.”
