Chapter 18. Cutting People Off

Anna felt awful. She was regretting deeply that she had made a deal with the devil. But when she thought about it again, she was glad that her mom was alive…so maybe it was worth it.

Just maybe.

“You want me to talk to Carlos right now?”

The demon king nodded. “Preferably,” he replied. “The sooner, the better.”

Anna could feel the tears building up in her eyes. She swallowed even though she felt a knot in her throat. “Sure, whatever you say, boss,” she said in a sour tone before stepping out of the room.

She left Zac there and went to look for Carlos. When she was walking down the stairs, tears had already escaped her eyes, and she was trying her best to wipe them away.

She could now see Carlos not too far away. He was by the door, but there was a crowd of dancing teenagers that Anna had to get through to get to him.

While she walked down the stairs, she bumped into her best friend. “Oh, Gill,” She said in a defeated tone.
