Chapter 21. The Stalker Is Back

The question lingered in the demon king’s head, and he could not believe that Anna had just asked him that. “Wh-what?” he chuckled nervously. “Why would you ask me something like that?”

Anna tightened her arms over her chest a bit and raised one of her eyebrows. “Are you in love with me?”

Zac’s heart was thumping in his chest, and he was annoyed that he was affected this way by Anna’s question. Maybe it was because he was not expecting it and because she was asking him something that he did not want to answer truthfully.

But it all boiled down to the fact that he was not going to be vulnerable, especially not in front of a human.

“I am not in love with you, dear. You’re a human. You’re weak. You’re young, dumb, and have a stupid view of how the world is full of rainbows and doggies. You’re naive, and if I would even fall in love with a human, that person would be the exact opposite of you.”
