Chapter 66. Confessions
Anna and Zac reappeared in the familiar, dimly lit surroundings of the underworld. The sky was dark and was void of any sign of a sun or moon. The aura was dark, and the smell of sulfur was strong.
In seconds, they were in the castle of the demon king. The air was thick and warm, and the eerie glow from the torches lining the cavernous walls cast flickering shadows. It was a place Anna had grown accustomed to over the past months, yet tonight, it felt different—more foreboding.
There was something about the place tonight that she could not explain. Her heart felt heavy, and her breath was labored.
Zac led her to a secluded chamber, away from the prying eyes of other demons. Normally, whenever she would come down here, she would just stay in the castle for an hour or less before going back to the earthly realm.
She would normally not see demons or any creature of darkness, maybe except one time, but besides that time, she had never really seen demons before. B
