Chapter 68. Sobs Under the Full Moon

The moon looked really pretty tonight. It was so bright and movie-like that Anna could not stop staring at it. But the only thing that ruined the moment was the pain that gripped her heart.

She wanted to do anything to get rid of that pain or heaviness, but she knew she could not afford to do so. She could not afford to disobey the demon king. She could not afford to put her mom on the line just for a boy.

Anna reached for her phone, her fingers trembling slightly. Tears filled her eyes, but she tried her best to hold them back. There was a knot in her throat, and her mind would not stop torturing her that evening when she and Carlos kissed.

She could still remember the softness of his lips and how he was so gentle with her. This was not fair, but in a way, it was. Her mother, in exchange for never letting her heart love freely. It was a terrible trade, but it was one that she believed was worth it.
