Chapter 69. The Trial
Anna steeled herself for the day ahead, knowing she had to put on a brave face for her mother, her father, for Kevin, for herself, and the trial. She took a quick shower, hoping the warm water would wash away some of the lingering sadness.
And in some way, it did. The shower helped clear her head and made her feel lighter. She wished she would have stayed longer but could not due to the fact that she had to leave with her family soon.
As she dressed, she chose her clothes carefully, opting for a simple yet professional outfit that would help her feel more in control. She wanted to look casual yet nice and formal, all at the same time.
So yeah, it took her a few minutes more to find what she was looking for.
Downstairs, her mother was already bustling around the kitchen, making breakfast. The scent of coffee and freshly baked bread filled the air, a comforting reminder of home. Anna sat down at the table, trying to appear as if everything was normal.
