Chapter 90. Press the Button
Vito’s finger hovered over the call button, his face a mask of determination and conflict. Armano watched him closely, his own internal battle raging. He couldn’t stand by any longer and watch his family perish, not like this.
“Father,” Armano began, his voice trembling but firm. “Please, reconsider.”
Vito’s eyes snapped to his son, anger flashing in them. “What are you saying, Armano? This is the only way.” He glared at the boy. “Are you now turning soft on me? Do you want to be like Carlos?” he scoffed.
“No,” Armano said, stepping forward. “But… maybe there’s always another way? I don’t know, but this seems very extreme.” His heart was thumping in his chest, this was the first time that he was standing up to his father and going against the man’s orders.
Vito’s face twisted with fury. He stared at his son for a few seconds and then chuckled without humor.
