Chapter 10. After the Kiss
Annabelle’s POV
Martha served lunch, and I served myself adequately. My hectic morning dance classes made me ravenous, and Martha’s food was just irresistible. I always ended up overeating. Although it was simple spaghetti and meatballs dunked in a gooey sauce, Caesar salad, and strawberry shortcake for dessert, I splurged as usual. Despite my healthy appetite, I never put on weight, and Martha always teased me about it.
Stefan came down, picked up a plate, served himself, and sat opposite me in silence. He was on a work-related call with Tristan, so we ate without communicating at all. He finished his food and, with a nod toward me, left for his room, still talking to Tristan over the phone. I felt disappointed. I wanted him to woo me over, to beg more for forgiveness until I forgave him. However, it didn't happen, and I helped Martha clear up lunch and clean the table. We did the dishes together as we chatted. It was our usual thing.
