Chapter 6. The Scorching Kiss
Adrian’s POV
Emerald didn’t at all look convinced and flashed a Cheshire grin at Azura.
“And your boyfriend else, why would your boss hunt you down? Unless you owe him lots of money, do you?” she asked suspiciously, causing Azura to panic and give me a discreet glance from under her thick lashes. It was enough to melt all my insides into mush.
“No, I don’t,” said Azura in panic.
“Angel, I’m waiting for someone to take me inside,” said Theo, interfering unnecessarily, as always. It got Emerald’s attention, and she rushed to his side to help him inside the house. Theo, with his hand around Emerald’s shoulders, winked at me before leaving. The wicked trickster! I didn’t know how he could impress a girl so easily while here I was struggling to get near Azura.
