Chapter 12. Questions

It feels awkward knowing that he went through my things. I understand, though, that he wants the gun, but I didn't lie when I said I didn't know where it was. I don't have any idea about that fact. I know I gave it to Dan, but I can't say that. I can't have him asking Dan why I would take a gun and give it to him, that leads to him asking about our relationship. He will uncover our engagement and no doubt uncover the truth behind it all.

"So, why do you not have a phone?" His question has my eyes move from the scenery outside to his eyes. I didn't think of this question. Why didn't I consider it? He's someone who picks up on everything, of course he will ask about the phone.

"From what I can tell, you don't have a bank. Not an active one; the last time it was used was a year ago."
