Chapter 51. Sister’s Mate

What did I just hear? That can’t be right.

I look towards the end of Bry’s hospital bed at my sister, who is frozen in place with her mouth slightly ajar. Her heart sounds like a herd of wild animals charging and trying to leap out of her chest.

I take a deep breath and let my mate’s delicious scent fill my nose and calm my raging emotions. A part of me is excited she has finally found her mate, but another part wants to deny her mate for a bit, knowing both the unmated men in the room are Bry’s ex-boyfriends.

My wolf bolts forward and tries to take control, but the part of me who is happy for my sister quickly pushes him back into the shadows.

I slowly glance up at Hunter, who looks just as surprised as me, and then to Jacob. His eyes flash between gold and then back to brown while his focus is locked on my sister. His breathing is ragged as he growls, “Mate. Mine.”
