Chapter 56. Rogues Again

I stare down at my phone as fear slowly consumes me. What did he mean by that? How is he going to show me what he is capable of? Don’t I already know? I’m his daughter, and I’ve seen all his hideous sides, especially the ones he doesn’t let anyone else see.

I glance across the room at Julie and Ted, silently begging for them to tell me my fears are unwarranted. But instead of being met with a reassuring look telling me I’m wrong, I find an apologetic gaze mixed with concern and worry.

My stomach sinks. Zack’s warm arms wrap around me as he kisses the top of my head and whispers, “I won’t let him do anything to you. We will show him who is the true alpha of the pack, and it isn’t him.”

His confident and determined tone pushes my worries aside, but it can’t completely remove the nagging feeling tugging at me. The same feeling which knows my father won’t let his subtle threat disappear in the wind. He will prove his point, and soon. But how?
