Chapter 68
It was finally time for Mia to meet Alex once again at the river. This time around, she took her time in arranging her curls and dabbing some lavender perfume on her neck, behind her ears, and on her wrists. She grinned in front of the mirror as she believed that this time around, her evening with Alex would be different from the other one she had with him.
She did not let her mood be dampened by the fact that he had only taken her to the river the other day, just so she could stop questioning him. Neither did she try to feel sad as she recalled what he said to her. Instead, she sighed. You're nothing to me, it echoed in her head. She felt a sinking feeling down her stomach, but she immediately cheered up, reminding herself not to take any of his words to heart.
She believed he was going through a phase. A phase that she wanted to help him out of. Done with all she was doing, with quick light and bouncing steps, she walked out of her chambers.
