Chapter 56. Not Going Home (3)
“But you have tons of other friends. And we’ll still see each other all the time.”
Friends. She’d never resented the implication that they were just friends more in her life than in that moment. Who was she to get angry though? She was holding out for his brother. Emily had no right to him.
When dusk came, she took the keys from him and decided that she’d be driving them home. His car pulled up in front of the cabin that they’d gotten with James when they were teenagers.
Aaron suppressed a sigh. “What are we doing here Emmy?”
“Not going home,” she said, getting out of the car.
He followed her inside. “Emmy, we can’t—”
“Why not? We’ve spent tons of nights together,” she said, heading straight for the kitchen and returning with a bottle of wine and a corkscrew.
He went to her and took the bottle and corkscrew out of her hands. She walked past him and brought out their collection of different variations of Rubik’s cubes and set six of them out
