That was right after Adele’s death. Admittedly he took it rather hard for someone who only knew her a week, but as the time passed Aaron found himself once again drawn to Emily. Maybe he was full of shit and didn’t know anything about love.

But as she held his hand while he grieved, allowed herself to give up her tantrums about James to focus on him, Aaron found himself more consumed by the presence of her in his arms than ever. Every shared laugh, every shared word, every caress and especially every stolen kiss made it somehow impossible that he was ever not in love with her.

“Yes, well I didn’t think this sham marriage would actually happen!” he ridiculed, knowing his mother wouldn’t stop until she’d fixed what she perceived to be the problem.

As King Henry went on a rampage about decorum and duty, something something responsibilities of a crown prince, something something, Aaron and Queen Mary stared each other down.
