Chapter 63. Days 3 and 4: What Happened in Venatores? (2)
Ten minutes late. Keira was never late.
Cassie gave Henry a nudge.
“What, now? We’re in company,” said Henry stiffly, shifting about uncomfortably in his seat.
“Every single person here was at that disaster of a brunch. Didn’t bother you this morning,” James grumbled.
James and his father set about arguing about whether or not Henry should be apologizing while Cassie attempted to calm the men down, reminding them of their audience. Aaron wasn’t listening. He couldn’t let go of the sinking feeling in his stomach that something was wrong. He turned his head to Nathan.
“Where is she?” Aaron asked under his breath.
“Which she, Ron? You have so many women on your arm these days, it’s hard to know who you mean,” Nathan returned, forcing a smile.
As the two men exchanged glares, the butler approached Aaron with a red note on a tray.
“Apologies, Your Highness. It could not wait,” said the butler, bowing once he’d delivered his message.
