Chapter 21

Marvel moved stealthily behind the embankment, bending down when it was necessary and peering to avoid the patrol guard. 

She was about to move out of the shadows when three patrol lycans walked forward. She quickly jumped back and clung to the wall. Thankfully, she had concealed her scent. 

The tree patrol guards were ten steps away, and Marvel sighs in relief. She glimpsed again, only to discover that one of the lycans had stopped. He turned back, and her gaze nearly collided with Marvel.

“Who goes there?” asked the Lycan, while moving toward Marvel's hiding spot.

The one on his right side said, “There's no one there, Collins.”

“It's probably our shadow,” the last Lycan retorted.

Collins shook his head in disapproval and said, “My instinct is telling me that something is hiding here.” Slowly, he started striding toward Marvel's hiding spot.
