Chapter 21. Unwanted Addition

"Oh, I really must go congratulate the couple right now! Nice meeting you, Mr. and Mrs.... oh, I forgot your name again. Bye!" She made a beeline toward where people were congratulating the couple, nearly clipping the other guy's shoulder in her rush.

Phew," she exhaled, "And people wonder why I don't go to events."

She hung back a little when she saw the couple having a conversation with an older couple, but then Simon spotted her and beckoned to her.

"Oh hey, Marissa, come join us."

Henrietta rushed to hug her. " Hello darling, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw you over there, my world. You look so beautiful tonight!"

"Cool it, flatterer, I have a bone to pick with you, and don't you even think that your sugary choice of words will stop me from killing you?" She shook her fist at her with mock menace.

Henrietta ran back to her husband "Help me, Simon, she wants to kill me on my anniversary!" she exclaimed dramatically
