Mukhtar shook his head as he remembered his encounter with the once amiable lady. He could still remember that she had always been so level-headed and reasonable back then when he used to visit Evie that he wouldn’t believe what she had some if someone had told him and he had not been there himself to see it.

Though he had been shocked to see her at the graveside when he went back for his key as he had not been in the right frame of mind then and he knew that he would have preferred that they met for the first time when he was not so distraught but he knew that there were no two ways about it when he had heard her make that joke about having a rich admirer to Evelyn. His eyes had originally been on the key in the hand of the lady who had her head bent- the same key he had his eyes fix
