It had taken a while for Marissa to accept meeting up with Mukhtar. Even though she knew now that the misunderstanding that happened had been mainly orchestrated by his mother, whom Marissa learned was deceased now, she had not been confident about facing him without all the animosity she had felt for him for years coming to the surface. She had grudgingly accepted that her number be given to him when Bernard suggested that speaking on the phone might give her a feel of how she would feel when facing him, and he had called her. The first phone call had been more talking on his part and silence on her part.
