Chapter 107
A flash of questioning in his brown eyes suggested that I decipher the meaning of his observation alone. My heart raced, hitting me hard inside my chest.
“You’re turning pale, wolf.”
“Should I tell Johanna any of this?” I murmured, my voice hoarse.
I turned to look at the table as Luke and Kaylee did so. Johanna, oblivious to everything, had Stacey sitting on one thigh and Sasha on the other, giving small pieces of sausage to my daughter. Sasha devoured everything with a very healthy appetite and tried to dominate the fork, as always. Mirko was perched on the long wooden bench and was enthusiastically showing Johanna what he knew about playing poker. She smiled at him, patiently.
I couldn’t help but notice how happy she looked, surrounded by children. She had a beautiful smile.
