Chapter 116
“Why should I do it?”
“I don’t know, protocol?”
“You’re not the bloody Queen of England. I found your daughter in the woods, a few meters from here, and I returned her. That’s all,” he snorted, growling under his breath. Duncan called to his dog with a growl, and the setter stood up to trot after his master. “I have to continue with what I was doing. Take better care of your children.”
What to answer? Maybe a “fuck you” would have been appropriate.
But I admit that I didn’t do it because Sasha was my priority at that moment; I didn’t give a damn about the rest.
I made my formal complaint to Rhiannon regarding the incident, of course. She asked me a couple of questions about what I saw, about Duncan and about Sasha, and insisted that I be patient and try not to react. She seemed a little anxious to know, in particular, how Duncan behaved around my daughter. She stressed her theory that he was not a threat to anyone, much less children.
