Chapter 44
Mirko pulled his father to bring him to the group, and Ivan obeyed almost out of inertia. His eyes looked very hard and dark, very different from what he had shown of himself until then. His voice sounded unkind when he addressed Ishida:
“Check all the camera files that cover that angle of the house. Since the day we put them up. If that bastard came through the skylight, he had to be visible at some point and it has to be recorded. I want to know when he did it.” Then he addressed Richie and Christian. “Bring the equipment, we have to fix that window and the one on the floor above. And we’ll weld the basement doors from the inside, for now. We’re not going anywhere until—”
Ivan stopped talking suddenly, and I noticed that his nose wrinkled sharply. And he wasn’t the only one; the others also fell very quiet, for no apparent reason.
