Sophia’s POV

“So you’re saying that the next gate would be focused on seeing if we can still trust each other even after each of our dark secrets has been exposed?” Derek asked.

“Exactly,” James replied, “so crossing the next gate will be easier for us if we can try not to distrust each other at this gate,” he added.

While we were still speaking, a huge mirror appeared in the sky above us. The mirror’s glass had a myriad of different brilliant colors that changed pattern with time randomly. It was so stunning that staring at it for over five minutes would be more than enough to hypnotize a person.

As we watched it, we heard a voice from the sky saying, “Welcome young mortals, to the Balance where your hearts will be weighed and your personalities will be purified.”

“The Balance?” James responded to the voice, “is that what this place is called? Because it’s a pretty cool name, kind like the judgment seat or something of that sort,” he added.
