Chapter 86
The pirates led Heraclitus, Typos and I back into the forest, our hands tied up and our mouths gagged with dirty rags.
I searched Typos’ face to see if there was something I was missing, his betrayal didn’t make sense. Why would he do this?
He led us into the ambush site. I could see Xenophon chose well, it was a small clearing in the middle of the forest, so small that the pirate’s numerical superiority wouldn’t be that big an advantage.
Unfortunately, Typos’ action had rendered it all useless, we had lost the element of surprise.
“We have your friends,” the pirate captain shouted. “Come out and surrender, or we’ll kill them.”
Xenophon and his crew emerged from the trees, their weapons drawn.
“Ah there you are” The captain said, laughing. “You don’t look so happy.”
“What do you want?” Xenophon asked.
“Straight to business already? No time for chitchat?” The captain laughed.
