Chapter 40. The Family to the Rescue

There, at their doorstep, stood three officers, Annalise’s uncle, aunt, Erik, and Dean. “There he is. He’s the one who has kidnapped my niece for money. Arrest him at once, officers,” screamed Aunt Emily, pointing a finger at Nelson.

One officer came forward with handcuffs to arrest Nelson. “Nelson Taylor? I’m Officer Keighley from the Houston Police Department. I’m afraid I would have to arrest you,” he said.

Before Nelson could say a single sentence, Annalise, with a vicious scowl on her face, stood in front of Nelson, trying to protect him with all her might. “On what grounds are you arresting my husband, officer?” she asked in a stern yet cold voice.

There was a pin-drop silence, seeing her stance and more so hearing her words. “Your husband?” asked the officer.

“She’s talking his language. He has her hypnotized under a spell,” said her aunt.
