Chapter 4. Denver's Pathetic Condition
Officer Brad Williams saw the naughty eighteen-year-old stand fearlessly in his own front yard. His keen eye had checked him staring at his daughter from afar. Any other boy would have dashed inside the house but this boy's undaunted spirit interested him. He parked his car and went inside the house.
"Sapphire, what were you doing on the balcony? I told you to stay away from those boys," he scolded her, gesturing towards the house opposite to them.
"I didn't talk to anyone of them. I was taking a breath of fresh air. Do you expect me to stay locked up the whole day because of them?" she asked with surprise.
"I didn't ask you to stay locked up. Just stay away from them," said her dad sternly.
"I am staying away from them, Dad. You know what? I hate Houston. You had to choose this house to move into in the whole wide world?" she said in a pissed-off tone.
