Chapter 24. Hasty Wedding Plans

There was a shocked silence in the room after Daxton's announcement. His parents looked at him with concern, rethinking his decision. Chris looked too dumbfounded to think of an answer. Aurora wanted to escape and hide somewhere as all eyes fell upon her, to see her reaction.

At last, Daxton's dad looked at her. "I think it's the best solution, but I must know what you have to say to this, Aurora. Do you wish to marry Daxton?" asked Henry Taylor.

"Yes, Uncle Henry, " said Aurora, as Chris simply gaped at her.

"That's wonderful! It's the best news I've heard in days," exclaimed Daxton's ma.

"Yes, but we have to hurry with the wedding. We can't wait a month to get the marriage license the conventional way," said Daxton's dad. Chris came out of his trance.

"I think I can help with that. I have contacts who can extract the license in three to four days," said Chris.

"That'll be great. In the meantime, let's get on with the preparations then," sai
