I didn’t believe her lies, but I let them slide. I had promised her I wouldn’t kill him. What the fuck did she take me for? A fool?
“I want him dead before the end of today,” I said flatly, leaning back in the limousine seat. The city lights blurred past the window, reflecting my mood—dark, sharp, and unyielding.
Pause.
“Are you sure about that?” Thoren asked cautiously, glancing at me from the opposite seat. His hand hovered over the tablet he was holding, poised to act.
“Yeah.” I reached for a glass of wine from the drink console built into the side of the car. One of the guards opened the bottle for me and poured a deep red into my cup.
