I could feel anger pulsing through every vein, searing through my muscles, and I feared I’d lose control at any moment. Even when Mother laid a calming hand on mine, her touch did nothing to quell the storm inside me. I fought with myself, struggling to keep Noctyr—my darker half—from bursting free and tearing the idiots before me limb from limb.
I slammed both fists onto the polished boardroom table, the wood creaking in protest. “How the fuck—” I began, forcing myself to stay on message.
