Chapter 27. The Ceremony
Cybele opened the box and smiled. Gael had chosen for her a wedding dress that had been conventional until four decades ago. A white dress. She put it on and when she looked in the mirror, she thought it was perfect. It was covered by a veil, all full of hand-carved wolves that shone in the colors of the tribes' wolves. They were all represented there. They were also represented in thousands of tiny sparkles, and she believed that they must really be all the tribal wolves there were.
She made her way to the garden. There wasn't the commotion of the day before. There was no music, no dancing and no talking. All the werewolves were wearing the formal, official clothes of their tribe. On each of their arms, there were two ribbons. One representing the color of their tribe's wolf and the other white. As she passed, they bowed as if she were the queen. When she had passed, they sat down and she noticed that they were barefoot.
